  • Easily my favorite coffee shop in the city. The cold brew is always delicious, especially with a bit of vanilla syrup. Even though there are other coffee shops in the area using metric coffee, it is never as good or consistent as Engine which is why I keep coming back. They even keep dog treats by the register if you stop by with a furry friend.

  • Just a random stop, they serve Metric coffee and Sprit Tea here. Very simple and cleanly decorated atmosphere, nice seating and friendly staff oh, bathroom A+. Served an Excellent Cortado, the artwork was super crisp, I was impressed.

  • My wife and I came here this AM for a coffee. We really enjoyed this local (independent/non franchise) coffee shop with a relaxing 'hang out' environment, complete with a large table in the back appropriate for a small group meet-up. The coffee is excellent and the only reason I do not give the food 5-stars is that the bakery was a day old (but it is Sunday so completely understandable)- though still quite delicious. We walked as it is very local, but it is nice to see that there is ample parking nearby.

  • I got a banana bread latte, chicken tinga empanada, and a pastry. Everything was pretty tasty. They had good seating options and a good amount of room. It seems like a nice place to study or work.

  • I tried the iced Americano and iced oat milk latte, both were decent, but the flavor was a bit too mellow for my taste. I’d probably add an extra shot next time to get a bolder coffee profile. I was hoping to grab something from their bakery selection, but most items were already gone when I visited around 1 PM on a weekday, so get there earlier if you’re looking for food. The environment is cozy and definitely a nice spot to study or work. That said, I had some issues with the Wi-Fi being unstable and weak, which made working a bit frustrating.

  • Stepping into Engine Coffee, you're greeted by a sense of considered calm exposed brick, soft lighting, and wooden accents that feel both grounded and quietly modern. The ambiance doesn’t scream, yet it leaves a lasting impression of intentional comfort, whether you're nestled at the counter or sharing a cozy corner. The flat white I had was beautifully balanced smooth and rich, with subtle sweetness and no bitterness. Paired with a lightly sweet cardamom cookie, it turned a pause into a moment worth savoring. The service was respectful and focused, giving just enough attention without ever feeling rushed.

  • This instantly became one of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago! They offer a great selection of beans (from Metric), and I really enjoyed both the pour-over and flat white. The barista was friendly, and there’s plenty of seating including two cozy window corner tables. They also had vinyl playing in the background which added a nice touch to the ambiance.

  • Great little coffee shop. Music not too loud, fun fire engine motif, wifi is good, and very clean. Do rite donuts and pastries smack. Seating is a little limited. They also sell records which is fun.
